The athletes deserve the focus. The Olympics are bigger than any one politician.

The athletes deserve the spotlight. They’re the reason everyone’s there.

The crowd’s reaction probably says more about global political tensions than about the athletes themselves. The Olympics always end up reflecting the moment we’re living in.

The Olympics should be a pause from that, a reminder that people can come together without all the cruelty and division. Giving JD Vance airtime right now would just drag the mood down unnecessarily.

Truly. It’s thousands of people agreeing to spend years planning a four-hour fever dream and the rest of us nodding like, “yes, this makes perfect sense.” Bonkers in the best, most human way.

Weightlifting on ice ends with the barbell calmly continuing without you.

110m hurdles on ice is just synchronized falling.
Judo on ice becomes a mutual agreement to slide past each other.

I would watch this instantly. No training, no qualifiers just 46-year-olds drafted like jury duty and handed a javelin. Finally, an Olympics with realistic warm-ups and ice packs as official equipment.

It’s strange to watch the world carry on as usual when things at home feel anything but. At the same time, a lot of people are probably using the Olympics as a brief pause from the noise, not a denial of it. Both feelings can exist at once.

Absolutely wild. Hurling herself down a mountain at highway speeds with a knee held together by vibes and titanium is next-level. And yes Lindsey Vonn. Built different is an understatement.

That’s a heavy thing to carry in a moment that’s supposed to be about shared humanity. It’s okay to grieve that loss of ease of just being a citizen, not a symbol. The athletes still deserve that quiet respect, and so do you.

Big global events can make a country’s flaws feel louder. At the same time, the Olympics can also be a reminder that the people, athletes, and communities are often bigger than the politics of the moment.
