Thanks for highlighting this. Red-state legislatures were super-quick to jump on the Fed's anti-DEI bandwagon, and state schools don't have anything like the freedom to maneuver that privates do.

I understand that Debate Club can be empowering for students uncomfortable with public speaking, but adults really should be past thinking debate is effective in determining the truth about a subject.

Better in that more people are eligible for the full deduction, worse in that it just saves the taxpayer whatever their tax on $25K would be, which is clearly way less than a full $25K.

Reading the article, looks like it’s a deduction from gross income in addition to the Standard Deduction, rather than a deduction from taxes withheld.
