Holiday Public Safety Announcement. Most of the time we put the oven on to heat & not look inside until it dings it's ready to bake. My spouse mentioned seeing a brighter red spot on our lower element when Xmas baking & when cold I saw it was drooping & had split! Check your ovens once in a while!

Had a new bird showing up at the feeder. Took a few days to get a clear pic but I think it's an immature female Eastern towhee!

The unexpected improbable October poppy just bloomed! Frost, cold days & nights, drought & even the stem bending & it still made it. A good symbol for not giving up in the face of adversity. Sometimes the conditions aren't perfect & you aren't in the perfect conditions but you can still thrive.

Icelandic poppies still blooming! I think they like the cooler weather!

This valiant poppy thought our Sept heatwave was summer & is trying to bloom. With cooler Oct days & nights & some frosts I'm covering it at night but still hoping it'll fully unfurl.

Saw this lovely owl wings outstretched having a sunny dust bath on the dirt road. He flew up to the White pine overhead & gave us a look.

My brother salvaged a virtually new old style Canadian made washer. Built like a porcelain coated tank. Seals on the mangle leaking oil but will be fun to see if it still works.

Nothing like a night in the woods to relax the mind. Woke during night to owls having a conversation. Morning was full of birds announcing the sunrise.

Little Easter bunny in the garden! Happy Earth Day! Was nestled under a garden seat. Didn't need rescuing. Momma bunnies will be back soon enough.
