Props to MSU for presenting "Complete Works" in Studio
Director Heather Hamilton said she told her actors to learn the script … and then she stepped back and let them go.

A swell thing for us to see on a foggy Friday: The rare feature, about Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park's production of the show, that accurately covers its history. It even links to the article Jess wrote for American Theatre magazine. Oh, and happy belated, WS! www.oklahoman.com/story/entert...
By staging a popular comedy, an OKC theater takes on 'Complete Works' of William Shakespeare
"The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] [again]" is playing April 17-27 inside Oklahoma Shakespeare's black-box theater.

It's a beautiful spring #throwupthursday! It would have been around this time of year in 1991 or 1992 that a rare thing happened: Reed Martin worked the #RenaissancePleasureFaire in Devore, CA.

Backstage just before *Hamlet.*

The time: Night, obvs!

Another #ThrowupThursday finds the "Spring" newsletter from 1989, announcing our ill-fated run at the Coronet Theater. LA Times reviewer Sylvie Drake got into a car accident en route to the press premiere, and boy was her review cranky. We never played Los Angeles again.

Costumes Goddess @mermaidsasa.bsky.social came across this relic: A gift given to the cast of RSC's HAMLET celebrating its 100th performance, back in 1982. Jess calculates that by the time he retired in 1992, he'd played the Dane more than Olivier, Gielgud, and Branagh combined. #Throwupthursday.

The show, newly clowned up with Reed Martin having replaced Daniel Rover Singer in the RSC (@reduced.bsky.social) was the toast of Ann Arbor this month back in 1990.

Yet another nation seems, ay *seems,* to have discovered the show and is performing it in the sixth most populous city in the world. Funny, no mention of authorship. I hope we don't have to release the Caliban!

@millersvilleuni.bsky.social got their production in just in time. The (revised) [again] script is way too LGBTQ+ and pro-choice for a Trump-ified Kennedy Center.
