Sometimes expressing opinions, but mostly learning from other people's wisdom.
So, in that sense, Stephen Miller is surpassing his heroes!

The actual historical Nazism was quite slow and gentle to start, although the seizure of absolute power took only a few months. But Gestapo didn’t go around killing people in year one, it took much longer than that.

Rising up to the challenge with his usual agility. A true hero for our time.

This guy really needs to retire. Even if he goes tomorrow it will be at least a decade too late!

I had a puncture at the supermarket in a small city with limited options and needed to find an out of hours tire specialist that were available to come with their specialist van and had the right tires in stock. Not quite your typical retail situation. ☺️

He doesn’t care about these people or the truth. He’s preparing the ground for invoking the insurrection act.
January 15, 2026 at 10:25 PM
Sure, I’m not saying the described situation is not dumb. I was just pointing out that I had to go online to figure out the tire size despite standing right next to the vehicle for which the tires were intended. 😂
January 15, 2026 at 10:19 PM
Not something to be proud of, but I have previously been in the situation where I couldn't actually read the tire size from the ones on the car because they were just too worn out. Now that I think about it, I don't even know how the side of a tire gets worn out, but there you go, it happened...

Oh well, we all have our crosses to bear. Yours seems to be utter lack of reading comprehension and making reasonable conclusions based on available data. No wonder your opinion of yourself is so high, mine would be as well if I suffered from those afflictions!
January 13, 2026 at 11:58 PM
Agreed. I also think this was poorly managed, communication-wise. They are really terrible at that.

Doesn’t negate the point that this is an exceptionally complex project where it was likely very difficult to assess the impacts and obstacles before getting properly stuck in.
January 13, 2026 at 11:39 PM
very different, but then I’m always doing new one-off stuff where stakeholders generally don’t know what exactly they want and there is a huge element of discovery because imaginations tend to be poor. Maybe a bit like this particular Govt project…
January 13, 2026 at 11:34 PM
I’m not particularly defending anything because I have no idea what actually happened behind the scenes. I was just responding to the confident claim without any evidence that nothing has changed.

As for your perfect project management track record, I’m sure I am in absolute awe. My experience is

And obvs when you have things that will affect people’s livelihoods, you better tread carefully!
January 13, 2026 at 9:26 PM
certainly false in my not insignificant experience with complex projects. Regardless of the prep you always discover new crucial information during implementation because key stakeholders either don’t know in advance what they need, or have been making silent assumptions that affect the project.
January 13, 2026 at 9:25 PM
I obviously don’t know the specifics because the Govt is shit at communication and at explaining what they are doing. I was just responding to your supreme confidence in claiming that good prep would preclude the need for this partial change of mind, and that nothing had changed. This is almost
January 13, 2026 at 9:25 PM
I guess you never ran a complex project. Circumstances ALWAYS change because it’s impossible to know everything before you start. That’s a huge part of why change management is so difficult.

12/ The claim that environmental scientists sold only “hair-shirt misery” is a classic climate-delay straw man

As @wflamb.bsky.social et al show cambridge.org/core/journal...

For 20+ years, #climate bodies have emphasised co-benefits: health, clean air, energy security, resilience, jobs, wellbeing

Of course. But this is not like an average person, this is positively reckless behaviour. Surely they don’t really believe that people will tolerate CSAM normalisation just because AI is doing it, and Musk refuses to do anything about it even though he could?!
January 12, 2026 at 5:55 PM
Yes, but this is quite obviously counter-productive. Musk is literally refusing to try to make it behave at least reasonable, and they are supporting this nonsense. This dramatically *increases* the chance that there will be a crackdown and serious regulation.

I don’t know what’s going on, but we are dealing with mass insanity in tech bro and right wing politics circles. They really seem to think that there are never going to be any consequences regardless of how low they go!
January 12, 2026 at 3:17 PM
I’m aware this doesn’t change the core legal argument, but the officers and soldiers will act on what they think is illegal unless a concerted effort to inform them about the points made here is made, which is unlikely with this lot in charge.
January 11, 2026 at 9:35 AM
From the point of view of perception of illegality by military officers, isn’t Congress trying to issue a joint declaration against the invasion of Greenland, and failing, actually counterproductive, and would strengthen Trump’s hand? He could then say that the Congress chose not to stop him!
January 11, 2026 at 9:35 AM
This statement is worthy of resignation. If you can’t do your job, get out of the fucking way, and maybe someone else can try that, you know, actually wants to!

Gender ideology means that biological sex doesn't exist, gender identity is the only thing that matters, and that any heretics should be pursued with the fire of a thousand suns.

Woke is definitely more nebulous, as these at least can be defined, even as a caricature, and then be engaged with.
