Clearly discord _already does_ require photo ID in some regions, and while that requirement is beyond their control, their shoddy handling of it is certainly their own (shirked) responsibility, and should already be making communities think twice about requiring/relying upon its use.

I admire people who already have enough resolve to steer clear of discord, given how many communities and even developers shamelessly insist on dragging people into it. All I know is, if it ever requires me to upload photo ID, I'm fuckin outta there too.

The truly scary thing is that the first game in the series is supposedly one of the better ones.

There's no way I can put myself through this amount of abysmal horseshit. I already put myself through 3 Serious Sam games this year. That's enough. I'm finding something else to stream tomorrow.

So uh... wow. Painkiller is _awful_. Within its first chapter there are 2 fights which involve mechanics with zero conveyance in terms of how to either defeat an enemy or survive its attack... and even when you figure out what the game wants you to do, it's a complete toss-up as to whether it works.

Gonna point out the very important 2nd paragraph that no one is bothering to read:

PSA for all YouTubers: they've been pushing auto AI language dubs onto channels recently, and for many viewers it's on by default and some can't even turn it off at all.
To disable it for your channel go to YouTube Studio > Settings > Upload Defaults > Advanced Settings

At the very least it seems like AD shouldn't have the blatant plot pacing problem that I felt CrossCode had. I think I like AD's combat a little more too, but I'm still not a huge fan of overly-tanky boss enemies - though I guess the accessibility option to scale down enemy HP could resolve that.

Sadly I think I'm going to have a similar issue with Alabaster Dawn as I did with CrossCode, in that I really want to like it, it has fantastic art and music, but there are just too many things that annoy me or I don't click with. (Including the return of vertically-ambiguous platforms.)

The two free Shrine games have been on my radar for a while but I never prioritized playing them. That changes now, as Shrine is the impending Board Boosters game for October. Time to give it a casual playthrough first.
