Vance sucks as a DC when going against good offenses. He kept a clearly still hurt Moss in the game to get burned every drive and he refused to put his top guy on their top guy. As for Payton, he played for the tie which cost them the game

This is just another instance showing Vance Joseph isn't actually that good of a coordinator. He chokes against good offenses when it comes to his playcalls and constantly goes away from what was working for the defense
