Cloudflare has been abused in the past to hide attackers' IP addresses. Now their domains (like AWS, google docs etc.) are also used for phishing. The advantage isn't just the trustworthiness of the name - it's also harder to detect and block.

Telegram is testing the idea of saving SMS costs by using users’ handsets as a peer to peer network for OTPs: telegram.org/tos/p2pl Not a novel idea for data, but peer to peer SMS has unique risks: potential costs, granting access to your messages, and having your number flagged by your operator.
