I honestly think that, in the ol’ US of A and in the current situation or historical conjuncture at least, instead of devoting our limited time and material resources to MList vanguard party building (which, as you are aware, is generally useless anyway because where the hell, besides perhaps in the sort of weirdo anachronistic American Party of Labor, is the de facto anti-revisionist ML party in which one could invest one’s time, energy, and resources even if so desired?), we should rethink the practical possibility and political potential of an ML or generally radically leftist domestic terrorist organizations a la the Weather Underground. Doubtless, there will continue to be (hopefully) increasing incidences of essentially revolutionary violence perpetuated against agents and representatives of the big and small bourgeoisie. However, these acts will remain under-strategized and ad hoc and will therefore lack the kind of consistency and coherence that an ideologically unified and centrally commanded radically leftist terrorist organization could and should provide. Here I think we should take the tactics and strategies of pre-1917 revolutionary Russia as our guiding clue and point of departure in theorizing what such an organ could be and accomplish at the various levels or instances of the social formation as a whole. The Narodniks, after all, essentially pioneered the peculiar art of domestic terrorism from within the coordinates of an irreducible oppressive Tsarist state apparatus and surveillance network. Yet terroristic violence was essential to the means and aims of political action within that concrete conjuncture. Finally, there are few soft-palmed petty bourgeois-cum-proletarian ideologues (actual or wannabe) who would be willing to do something like buy a rifle, learn how to shoot it, then shoot an oppositional political or economic or ideological leader, or who would ever even deign to imagine themselves capable of producing, much less exploding, a bomb…
