Thank you! It was so pretty!

Got to go kayaking around Echo Lake, ME.

No photos of it, but there's a small island on the lake with a house and private property. What a cool place to live!

It is said that Maine's true beauty can be seen when the skies grey with overcast, the fog rolls over the peaks and the water, and the storms make everything misty and weathered. The sunsets may be beautiful, but I definitely see it, too.

It was amazing, and I intend to post all the gorgeous nature pics too! This is my first national park and it is not disappointing ❤️

Next time we'll have to plan a larger group for some good hikes, if you're interested in something closer to home, too!

We Conquered The Precipice Trail! Champlain Mountain, ME.

Known as the most dangerous trail in Acadia, with an awesome boulder field at the start and a terrifying cliff edge path towards the end.

This trail's peak nests Peregrine Falcons, so the trail is often closed. We were so lucky to be here!

The Thunder Hole in 1 second or less
cococollective.bsky.social
It's not the ideal time of year or weather for the true sight, and the video doesn't do the sound justice at all. Standing behind it on the stairway in the rocks you can FEEL the booming rush the wave makes on the rocks!

The Thunder Hole, Bar Harbor, ME

Breathe, you'll get there at your own pace

Apparently the thunder part is on windy days during higher tides, the waves boom and splash up as they hit the cut out. I didn't assume it was the sound of the rocks shifting but I did think it was cool to see I didnt see high tide, though, and sadly no pics unless we go again 😅

Ha! I accidentally "it's not too far"ed my first worn-out tourists on an Acadia hike

I'm in Maine at the Thunder hole, it's just a cut out where the waves hit in the rocks and splash up, but in lower tides you can see inside when the water pulls away, and there's a bunch of smooth rocks that I got to watch tumble after being hit a lot without falling. You hear it before you see it
cococollective.bsky.social
I looked into the thunder hole and got to hear the smoothed over pile of rocks shift over from the water pressure before I saw it

Meßer's father, Jubert Basket, was Tuscarora Indian. Sadly the Tuscaroran language, Skarohreh, was deemed extinct with their last speaker passing in 2020, but renewing efforts have been in effect, which is very cool

There being a woman in the 1700's names Mary Ann Meßer, born Little Flower Basket and a woman in the 1600's named Mary Ann Cardwell, born Little Flower Baskett is one of the things that makes ancestry work so infuriating.

At least they are from two different tribes, with different fathers listed

Wanted to show off my almost 20 year old "time capsule" from my last post!

Is actually just a Warriors Cats book with a hand drawn Inuyasha bookmark I made in 7th grade and lamented with packing tape.

I call it "a Nostalgia of Cringe" and I love it. It's so bad and I love it.

Made around 2007

...and we lamented them with packing tape so they would stay forever.

I still have mine nestled in a Warriors: Cats of the Clan book from middle school, almost 20 years ago!

Together they are my personal time capsule 😂

Damn, when my symptoms aren't wrecking me I can do such cool things, and I appreciate the folks in my life who are understanding about disabilities and don't think my symptoms are me.

I am more than my symptoms, and so are you, queen.

If you don't have stains in your books from grabbing the closest one to you to press your flowers, with, what are you doing?

Do I need to pick you some flowers?
