It’s great to have an English anime magazine with Otaku USA, the last real one, basically on death’s door

It is just absurd, Mega Man since MM9 has basically just been revivals but never actually, you know, reviving beyond the “Remember the NES????” Stuff

The issue with doing any platforms specific to retro anime is that it is a stagnant area, and is wholly reliant on other people seeking out the media in question.
It’s not like retro games where there is continual things occurring in the scene, so it’s hard to make a community around it.

I see a similar trend with Dragon Ball, putting so much focus on what Toriyama Akira would think, when so much of the stuff people like in that franchise wasn’t done with or by him.

This is to say, I think Tomino’e interesting, I think his Gundam works are far more interesting than, say, IBO or Witch, but his opinion is not one to weigh everything against.

It is a franchise now, and has been one for longer than many discussing it have even been alive. There’s conversations to be had about how that saps artistry from it, but we’re so far beyond that.

Worst part is how unaware people are of how unique the current era of anime is.
People talk about how CR killed fansubs when, without an official source, 90% of all anime release annually just wouldn’t get touched in English beyond EP1.

I think the only real forums still active are Reddit and steam, which is sad in its own right.

A lot of people love the idea of these classic horror games and nothing more, never even attempting to play them. It’s very sad honestly.

-in a way my real favourite, Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, really doesn’t.
I’ll remember Sanda, but Backstabbed will go the way of Zero in all likelihood. Doesn’t stop it from being way more fun though.

Anime has been about meeting rapid demands and cost cutting since before it even adopted the name “anime”. It is as much a characteristic of it as it being Japanese animation.
