Saw this chart from Ben Watts (his real name, I think) about different time profiles of European electricity consumption. Fun. www.linkedin.com/in/kilowatts/

I don't know. More love parade than state visit.

Norway's EU membership polling. Striking how around 2009 it narrowed and then support collapsed during the euro crisis.

"Voters want contradictory things: low #prices when they shop, high #wages for themselves; not many immigrants but lots of cheap labour; rising house prices when they own and lower ones when their children want to buy." www.economist.com/leaders/2025...

Life does feel more expensive, real #wages as measured by typical monthly purchases have not recovered.

But in terms of the full consumption basket, they have.

Another chart from Goldman Sachs: the biggest effect comes from export losses in other markets. #China

That means, no protectionism against Chinese imports, but aggressive FTAs with the RoW is the key policy response. Basically the French position in reverse.

Love the middle finger around the time of the German fiscal enthusiasm month™️.

One of those beautiful #Cologne traditions, the Christmas concert to play along to on your instrument. Of course in the Cathedral of Cologne.

Also saw this fantastic chart. Red: pure age-related ratio of old to young. Green: number of old vs. number of employed. Employment boom post-2006 helped a lot.

(And led politicians to add new pension gimmmicks.)

Just stumbled over this solution for long-haul freight on roads: an additional trailer with battery and e-engine that leaves all of the rest as is. www.revoy.com

The Friedrichstraße in Berlin is getting a make-over. The design is very close to what the Greens had tried to do, and what the CDU campaigned massively against.

Much like debt brake reform. Or the lowered industry electricity price. www.tagesspiegel.de/berlin/die-l...

As every year, kudos to the Santa in Kew Gardens holding what must be a 5-hour press conference with a gazillion children.

Contrast and compare. This is street light charging solutions in two different European capitals, but by the same company.

Weird, why such a massive box in one, and just a plug in the other?

As much as I enjoy the % increase in EV sales in Germany, the overall picture remains depressing.

The year-long campaigns against EVs still reverberate. www.adac.de/news/neuzula...

Bit of a disagreement on the family history there. I let you two discuss it while you wait for the ferry check-in to open.

Increase from a low base, admittedly. Still interesting.
