Or to validate to the higher-ups that at least some of the rust bucket rockets can be launched without blowing up halfway through the process?

Hopefully by way of a plank extended over the side of the ship.

Drones as a convenient excuse when poorly maintained infrastructure fails and needs emergency repairs?

One party bribed to assist the plunder, the other bribed to ignore it. Buying two parties is not that much more expensive than buying one.

A significant portion of Republicans would probably drink paint remover if Dear Leader told them it was safe. Which he'd do if the Democrats started making a big deal out of how unsafe it is.

It's kind of puzzling why they haven't done so already, actually. It would solve several problems.

The drone attack would be at the end of the series finale, when it's revealed to The Strong Men (C) that their local fixer Viktor, who has been doing most of the menial jobs like cooking throughout the show, is actually Yanukovych, and the war raging in the background was his idea to begin with.

I really hope Putin's entire collection of failed dictators have to share one apartment, sitcom-style.
January 5, 2026 at 1:17 PM
With a recurring gag that they all try to write to Putin and ask for a reconquest of their respective countries, but they all sabotage each other so no letter is ever actually sent.

It's all in the name. The air defense system is great in the glossy brochures and the imagination of Russian scum, but pants IR.

Considering the length of the frontline (roughly 2000 km, isn't it?), this would correspond to an average advance of roughly 2 km this year (~6 m/day). If so, the average cost of advance for Russia seems to be about 200 casualties per meter. Even WWI generals would balk at that.

Ex-quipment, as it may now be classified.

Congress must first establish the fact that the president is acting in Russia's favour at every opportunity, even to the detriment of the US and its allies. Then apply Section 4 of the constitution's article two.

Dip the tip of the barrel in chocolate to make the point.

Not an army desperate to defend, throwing shoddy tanks at the frontline to stall an enemy advance and buy some time to throw up defenses. But an army that desperately scrounges up whatever they can from the scrapyards to carry out futile orders of conquest, and failing on every level.

Not to mention that Russian soldiers aren't on infinite contracts either. They don't just have to replace the fallen vatniks, but also those who served to the end of their contracts and decided to get out while they are still alive to enjoy the money.

All they need is the reactor, a lunar lander, a rocket powerful enough to launch a lander, and a functional space program. Doable if they devote their economy to it, including defunding their entire military and putting the entire population on rations.

May Russia only ever be lit by the fires of their burning cities.
December 23, 2025 at 6:58 AM
Put on a map, it seems like the front line in Moscow is somewhere south and east of the city. Ukraine had an early breakthrough past the ring road, which they sadly were not able to exploit. Hoping for a cluster of dots in the center one day.

Ahh, OpenAI once again reserving a huge portion of the world's hardware production by passing around the IOU note for future profits that never seem to actually materialize, but keep growing larger for every transaction.

Any buildup of forces in the area should be matched by NATO strategic forces to be ready to drop heavy ordnance on St. Petersburg on five minutes' notice. The best way to keep the Russians out is to exact a very heavy cost of attacking.

Hungary itself seems remarkably more pro-western than its leadership. It should be enough to remind Orban that meeting his demands would cost billions, bribing him would cost millions, but opening a sixth-floor window for him would be free.

This gives the same vibes as "I won't have to beat my wife if she does as I say".

Sounds like Orban amd Fico won't be able to collect their Kremlin Christmas bonuses this year.

Dang, that's a Vranyo class armoured troop transporting cruiser, if I'm not mistaken. Nice hit.
December 18, 2025 at 2:18 PM
Definitely. The problem is not so much Trump, as the fact that someone like Trump can be elected in the first place. Why make any deals or agreements with the US, if they are potentially four years away from electing someone who will tear them all up again?
