My brother got me these unusually cinematic graphic tees for Christmas, The Red Shoes ('48) and Cure ('97)
A cool graphic tee of the movie The Red Shoes, a film about a woman who must choose between life and dance! For a graphic tee it's pretty well designed, having a large image of the ballet-within-a-film sequence in The Red Shoes, in which the dancers are in black and white and the shoes are bright red. It also has two famous lines by the villainous emcee: "You cannot have it both ways. A dancer who relies upon the doubtful comforts of human love can never be a great dancer. Never." And, "A great impression of simplicity can only be achieved by great agony of body and spirit." Another cool graphic tee from the Kurosawa film Cure, in which Koji Yakusho stands in a dark trenchcoat in the middle distance with a disturbed look, behind him is the totemic X. For those who haven't seen it it's a horror-noir and it's very good. Below is a line from the movie "All the things that used to be inside of me...Now they are all outside" is in red all-caps.

What I'm reading now and a tiny sketch of a tiny Gabriel García Marquéz head
Julio Cortázar's Bestiario, in the Alfaguara imprint which are always nice, the cover has a medieval knight being attacked by his own arm which is a serpent, and it has in a conservative serif font the author's name and then slightly smaller the name of the collection; the other book is Yuri Herrera's Señales que precederán al fin del mundo, about one third third of the cover is red and covered with a chunky white sans-serif font, the author's name, the name of the novel and its editorial Periférica, below a street scene copyright Corina Arranz, in which the word Muerte plays a large role In the book in which I record all the books I've finished, a small sketch of Gabriel García Marquéz, which I think is a good likeness

Now reading, The Epic of Gilgamesh, and Confucius's Analects, from the library
Two Penguin Editions from the library. The Epic of Gilgamesh and The Analects. Both have the regular Penguin Editions cover with the two inches of black and the title in white italics and the orange sanserif author name. But because Gilgamesh doesn't have an author it just has the title. The cover of Gilgamesh has an image of a carving of the Bull of Heaven. The Analects has a domestic scene.

Maybe the most bizarre reference to Texas in all of Borges I've seen so far (P.901 of his complete works) is him calling The Battle of the Alamo "that other Thermopylae".
The poem "Texas" from Borges Obras Completas, published in 1974. The lines in question is "Name of that those days that are not swept away: San Jacinto/and that other Thermopylae, The Alamo"
