We started by leaving out snacks on the table for them - usually dry cereal or raisins or fresh fruit or granola bars or some combination thereof. Then on days we forgot, they began foraging for themselves.

Yay!!! My 7 year old hasn’t organized teeth brushing for himself & little sister (5.5), but they now regularly feed themselves “breakfast snacks” and watch tv while I’m sleeping in. Sometimes that’s an apple or cereal. Other times it’s cookies. Worth it.
