I also improved by tracing real life fox heads and understanding their proportions, so looking up real life iguanas or other reptiles and trying to break them down to simple shapes should help you start thinking about drawing more in volumes than 2D shapes for a more "real" sketch.

I would say try to think of your character as 3D blocks, like you drew on the first image of simple 3D shapes. Breaking down your complex raptor OC into basically a sphere and two rectangles for the jaw lets you line everything up with practice.

If it helps, just go for a drawing you want to do! Sure, it may be bad, but it can keep you motivated to practice and get better!

Don't be afraid to trace, it's what you learn from it that counts!

Nice, I got one too, super handy to have a lot of portable power, but battery life is a pain on mine.

Omg I'm too american to tell lol. It's not required, but it really helps to sell that it's there and gives it depth. The best advice I got is to draw what you want, don't force the process, and try something new every once in a while. All it takes is dedication to improve!

Is it a jukebox?
For me, I just go for broad strokes, learning to control my speed and shoulder movement. If you want perspective, I actually recommend looking up single point perspective, using a ruler to get good geometry without too much effort. You can msg me if you'd like to chat about it!

And here is the image of what I drew, those now deleted colored pieces in my timelapse were my sad attempts to draw the metal panels of the plane lol
