That final act, especially the final monologue, is so specifically Australian that I struggle how anyone without a deep relationship to the country could fully grasp what is going on. But maybe that specificity translates better than I imagine and it's other aspects that bump for people.

I disliked TRUE HISTORY immensely when I first saw it. But it wouldn't leave me. Now, two years later, I'm a huge defender of it. I think it's a film that makes it very hard to appreciate on a first viewing.
