I'm 100% with you there. Three controls are all you need much of the time. And I am a luddite - I much prefer mechanical processes that I can look at and see how they work rather than CPUs and circuitry I don't understand. Applies equally to photography and motorbikes lol

Agree the chemical process of film development is complex, but the cameras themselves were simpler. My first 'proper' film camera was a Nikonos III underwater camera, a fully mechanical camera with no inbuilt light meter. But a simpler camera requires a better understanding of process I agree.
