Friday ice update - #Arctic sea ice extent is currently the 2nd lowest on record (JAXA data)...
• about 420,000 km² below the 2010s mean
• about 960,000 km² below the 2000s mean
• about 1,530,000 km² below the 1990s mean

Hello all, I do apologize for not being here more frequently. Life has been a battering ram of sorts. I am following Cat. 5 Melissa's impending assault on Jamaica. Also the refreeze period of Arctic/Antarctic ice doesn't seem to be looking too great

JAXA did not update data for Feb 4th last night. This usually means they are 're-calibrating' over the next 7-10 days. Interested to see where things are headed given Arctic Extent is record lowest and Antarctic extent is about 10-11th lowest and dropping places fast

To anyone following the plight of Arctic Sea Ice: The last 10 days in a row 2024 has been the lowest in the JAXA record for Sea Ie extent and this 'event' as it were does NOT bode well for ice loss in the coming 2025 melt season!
