My default state is half dead.

I’m a therian ΘΔ of the raccoon/fox variety. Homosexual gray-ace, quoiromantic.

I would probably cry if something happened to you.

Maybe. I would want to cry for sure. I would be wrecked though.

I’m also not saying that all imperfections need to be corrected. Some of the best games that have ever been made are riddled with imperfections and the community still loves them. A good game can still be a good game even if it’s really hard.

tl;dr give developers credit for the changes they make to their own game. If the dev pushes a balance change, it’s within their vision; it is the dev who decides to commit the change (unless it’s the publisher or shareholder, then they’re to blame).

Give your fans a place to talk about your game.

It is not surprising for a game from a small studio to release in an unbalanced state; the sample size of data is relatively small before a full release; it’s only natural for the data to reveal the imperfections after full release when thousands of playtime hours are accumulated.

A bad review saying the game is unfair is valid.

If the game feels bad for an overwhelming amount of players, then you as the dev have to decide if making changes soils the vision of the game.

It’s not fair to the devs to assume they are compromising their vision when they make a balance change.

Review bombing is when the rating drops for reasons unrelated to the game itself.

If the game feels unfair, those players should have a space they can go to to talk to other players for strategy and air their grievances. Where do you think they’re gonna go if no such place can be found?

We’ve seen this many times where games that have a clear means of communicating with a developer tend to review higher on storefronts, because the customer feels heard and the devs can talk directly to their players (even if the developer never implements whatever concessions).

The only people that can commit changes to the game on an official level are the game devs. If the devs push a change, it’s in their vision.

Bad reviews suck and is symptomatic of not having a clear communication channel for players to submit feedback in a more formal manner.

I think most people are unable to do that.

The difference here is that an AI chatbot won’t talk you out of committing murder because it wants you to succeed in meeting your goals.

An actual friend will help you get rid of the body because you were too fucking stupid to think critically about what the AI chatbot told you to do.

An AI chatbot cannot be your friend. Your friends are not tools. Chatbots are not going to challenge your worldview. They don’t have a lived experience to learn from. Trying to find friendship in an AI chatbot can leave you feeling hollow.

If you have a friend that is a tool, get rid of them lol
