I don't really have a point. I just find myself wondering often whether this whole thing is a net positive, or whether our psychology literally can't handle it, and social media is gonna be the linchpin that brings everything crashing down.

There's something to be said for social media waking a lot of people up to injustices they were unaware of, and broadly educating people.

At the same time…before social media, most of the craziest batshit bigotry didn't have much of a platform, either.

I'm not a Taylor Swift hater—I respect what she's done, and she's put out a few great albums—but the ever-increasing majority of her songs are mediocre and forgettable, and we'd say so if any other artist released them.

Her fame is most of what's selling her records at this point.

This is so amazingly cool. Packaging up a whole video game (built with ThreeJS and React), and shipping it as a single binary, thanks to Deno.

We don't talk enough about Deno's very serious capabilities and tooling. Here, it goes toe-to-toe with Go, and wins.

CEOs in general, but tech CEOs in particular, tend to grow notoriously out-of-touch with their actual users, as their success increases and they drift further and further from the actual humans they serve.

I thought Jay was an exception, but this "WAFFLES" debacle has me thinking maybe I was wrong.

Shout-out to Safari for just skipping seven major version numbers and adopting a whole new numbering system, making any table like this seem completely broken now.

A compatibility table from CanIUse.com, showing the CSS property "animation-timeline: view()."

Highlighted are the Safari and Safari on iOS compatibility tables, which abruptly jump from 18.6 to 26.0, making it look like there's a huge unaccounted-for gap of seven versions.

Two facts to know about this:

1: There wasn't actually a shutdown in 2023. It just got close.

2: That means the last *three consecutive* shutdowns, counting this one, began under a Republican-controlled House, Republican-controlled Senate, AND Republican President. (You know the one.)
