My sense is it's more about the ease of install and lower cost of entry to install an unducted mini split system than it is for a fully ducted HVAC system. It looks like installing a mini split can be a one person job while a full HVAC install definitely isn't.

I would say that even if they may not excel on our hottest days, our real "need" is overnight when the temp cools back down to a mere 100°.

For us it's just one room that's the problem. In beginning our research, I was surprised at the number of installers locally that specialize in just mini splits and not entire HVAC ducted systems.

Thanks. My understanding of the tax credit requirement is that it applies to heat pumps which may include AC but does not apply to AC only mini splits so whatever we consider will include a heat pump.

That is also very helpful info. Our central AC works well for the whole house except for our bedroom which has west exposure and no amount of rebalancing seems to fix it. We're thinking about installing the mini split to address it. We should have done it before the summer started but here we are.

Does anyone have a mini-split heat pump/AC unit installed at home?

If so, thoughts? How does it handle the AZ summer? What brand do you have? Do you like it?

Thinking about installing one before the current tax credit expires and looking for opinions on them.

Now that American farmers are sitting on a shit ton of soybeans that China won't buy, maybe Trader Joe's can bring their discontinued Tofu Edamame Nuggets.

They were pretty good and we were bummed when Trader Joe's discontinued them in 2023.

I feel the same way. Something happened. People "in the know" are upset about it. I'm not in the know and I don't have the time or energy to go down a rabbit hole to figure it out. There's no cliff notes.

At some point I just say fck it and move on.

I think that it's an unhealthy combination of both elements.

I suspect that there's at least a little bit lurking below the surface for most of them (and a whole lot for some of them) but then trump knows how to push all the right buttons to raise it to the surface and get them to amplify it.

We've seen it in Phoenix also where mayor and council appear to have little ability to change their police department's culture or behavior. Or have little desire too. Or some combination of the two.
