Very strong list. No more heroes is a series that deserves more love

24: Mario + Rabbids DK Adventure: First time coming back to this game since the original release and it's held up well. A little easy as far as TRPGs go but the fun here is setting up combos with a wide variety of options to end boards quickly. Rabbids still do nothing for me as characters though

This was every video game I've beat so far this year but I'll come back and add more as I finish up more that I'm working on 🎮

23. Donkey Kong Bananza: Absolutely incredible. Digging is stupidly fun and the addition of Pauline adds a lot to the overall experience. It was a love letter to Rare and genuinely a perfect game to kick off the switch 2 era. I waited 25 years for this game and it was worth every fucking second

22. FF7 Crisis Core Reunion: I've never played the original FF7 so I was a little lost plotwise in FF7R. This game did a good job of explaining a lot of backstory and had a pretty fun combat system (I love gambling) even if it wasn't a particularly deep one. Just flashy enough to hold my interest

21. Banjo Tooie: Finally got to this game and it was a delight. I loved the fact that you start with all your normal moves, it made finding new moves all the more rewarding. The levels are maybe too sprawling and it made it hard to keep my sense of direction so I got lost a lot. Still a masterpiece

20. Metroid Zero Mission: Another great entry into the Metroid series. Kind of a short game and mostly very derivative of other games in the series but the Zero Suit section was incredible and the pivot to stealth kept the game engaging. Mother brain was fuckin hard though maybe I'm just bad

19. Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga: A classic from my childhood I had never managed to beat until this year. This game still holds up between both the humor and the combat. I do think it's relatively easy overall until you get to the final boss which is a needlessly large difficulty spike
July 28, 2025 at 5:48 AM
18. Kirby 64: I was surprised but I really loved this game. Letting you combine every copy ability to create a new one kept the game so fresh for me and I was constantly trying to make new combinations to test. Flying felt balanced as well so difficulty ended up in a solid spot for a kirby game
July 28, 2025 at 5:46 AM
17. Far Cry 4: I had the urge to play Far Cry and this met my expectations. Pagan Min was kinda lame but the bigger disappointment was the protag Ajay. Jason from FC3 was the standout to me from that game so to get a comparatively bland character in this one did a lot to mellow my experience

16. Mario Kart World: For a launch title it was fine. If you like Mario Kart you'll love it but I just wish there was more meat here. The open world feels like a gimmick and the challenges it offers are more for MKW veterans rather than for casual players looking to get value out of their $80 game

15. Layton and the Diabolical Box: My third Layton game and... yup it's more Layton. The puzzles in this one felt more satisfying than in Curious Village but if you enjoy the Layton gameplay loop then this really is just more of the same (unsurprising since it's still only the second entry)
July 28, 2025 at 5:40 AM
14. Brotato: The Bullet Heaven genre is new for me but I pumped like 200 hours into Vampire Survivors so I had high hopes here. Turns out the lack of secrets or maps really took away a lot for me in terms of the overall experience. The game is still fun but I really didn't put a ton of time in
July 28, 2025 at 5:38 AM
13. Elite Beat Agents: A DS classic and inspiration for Osu and I can definitely see why. The mechanics are already fun and very unique for a rhythm game but each song having a story attached adds a lot to the overall experience (someone died in this game lmao). But the song choices are a bit basic

12. Layton vs Ace Attorney: My last AA game to catch up on and a weird one to end with. Incredible art direction and aesthetics on this one but the Phoenix sections were a bit undercooked and the ending is beyond wacky even for a Layton game. Still a solid entry but maybe the weakest AA game
July 28, 2025 at 5:33 AM
11. Spiderman 2: It was more of the same from Insomniac. I did like this one but I wanted to see some sort of bigger change to differentiate it more from the previous 2 games. I also wish Miles and Peter played more differently to better distinguish their identities rather than basic move changes
July 28, 2025 at 5:31 AM
10. Monster Hunter Wilds: I really loved Monster Hunter Rise so I was looking forward to this one but came away slightly disappointed. Monster design is great as always but the lack of wirebugs made movement within combat clunkier and the focus on narrative was very much not needed or well done
July 28, 2025 at 5:29 AM
9. Wolfenstein The New Order: Killing nazis will never not be fun. Nothing super crazy mechanically here but it's fundamentally sound. I think the stand out here are some of the level designs and one particular boss fight that was absolutely incredible from an aesthetic standpoint. Very solid game
July 28, 2025 at 5:27 AM
8. The Patrick Star Game: I have a soft spot for Spongebob games and this one filled a unique niche as a true sandbox game. It's mostly a "go fuck around and break stuff" kinda game but still manages to be pretty fun because of satisfying movement and physics. Just don't play the switch version
July 28, 2025 at 5:25 AM
7. Zelda Echoes of Wisdom: I love 2D Zelda games and this one scratched that itch nicely. It was fun playing as Zelda for the first time and I enjoyed the freedom the game offers, but the copy menu was clunky and combat can feel unfulfilling when there's only a few ways to tackle enemies directly
July 28, 2025 at 5:21 AM
6. Aviary Attorney: A very surprisingly fun AA clone. Beautiful art and slightly cursed character designs. The branching story paths made for some fun endings and the ending of the first case was an absolute whiplash. Would highly recommend going into this one blind if it seems interesting to you
July 28, 2025 at 5:20 AM
5. Carry the Glass: A relatively fun streamer bait game that is better enjoyed with a friend you can yell at. There's really nothing else to this one
July 28, 2025 at 5:18 AM
4. Ace Attorney Investigations 2: It's more Ace Attorney and I'll take any new game I can get with this series. This one felt like an improvement narratively to the first game. While it never quite hits the highs of Trials and Tribulations, I think this was one of the stronger entries in the series
