Switched over to this machine because it has nice memories for me. It was one of the first typewriters in my collection. Also, it sounds good!

95 years later and the paint is still smooth and glossy. I honestly don’t know how they did it!

104 years old! This was a lucky find in an antique store in Kennebunkport Maine many years ago

I’ve been writing more with my 1990s IBM Wheelwriter and really enjoying it! It’s a fantastic machine to type on with its heavy duty ultra amooth smooth print mechanism, and a lovely buckling spring keyboard. I was lucky enough to find a mint condition unit on eBay of few years ago.

My favourite portable right now. It’s fun to make adjustments to the settings to make it feel just right to type on!

New arrival!
A 1961 5 Series Smith Corona Clipper in Desert Sage, rebranded as a ‘Viking Custom’ for the Eaton’s Department Store in Canada.
My gf got it for me. She’s an enabler haha

My Dad’s 1958 Oxford Dictionary that I keep beside my typewriter. As a kid, I was fascinated by the index of letters cut into the pages and I still think they’re pretty cool.
Incidentally, I just used it because I couldn’t remember how to spell ‘jeopardy’. Or maybe I never knew🤔

The more I use this machine, the more I like it☺️

I Hear you!
I think we are going to start with some classics; The Bishop’s Wife or perhaps Holiday Inn

My 1953 Royal Quiet DeLuxe still has some sparkle left in it✨

I just prefer how it looks and how it sounds with the cover off.

My current tiny desk writing setup featuring my 1962 Remington Super Riter. It’s sitting on an all metal, heavy duty printer stand from the 1980’s; a leftover from our family business.

I prefer to use this typewriter with the “hood” removed. I think it sounds better without it, plus I like the Steam Punk aesthetic haha

Ggghhh ggg aghh 😳😳

Numbers 3, 4 and 5 seemed to be used the most. Very interesting🤔

Replaced the aftermarket plastic spool with an original metal one for better appearance and operation. Make sure to hook the ribbon onto the spike on the core of the spool before you start winding it on. *And make sure that the reversing eyelet is not outside of the ribbon guides or it will jam up.

One of the biggest challenges of collecting typewriters is finding ones that are in really good mechanical condition. I got lucky with this 1948 Underwood. It has a wonderful typing feel and spent it’s life in the offices of a local public library where it was serviced regularly
