Some people say that my artworks are grey. Someone last weekend described my colour use as quiet and that's just what I think! Just like in music: I don't have the need to play my colours in full volume all the time - and specially this year I've worked with silent ambience.

Perjantaina mut nukutettiin ekan kerran ikinä. Pelotti hirveästi, mutta siinähän vain nukkui. Ja sitten heräsi tokkuraisena. Ja nukkui uudelleen. (Eikä missään vaiheessa sattunut.) Mutta nyt sitten toipilaana, ja siksi ei ole taiteilijatapaamisia näyttelyssä. Mutta työt on!

Ensi lauantaina Galleria Becker on mukana Yläkaupungin yö -tapahtumassa ja ohjelmaa löytyy reilusti myös galleriasta. Sunnuntai on varmaankin parempi päivä, jos haluaa käydä katsomassa näyttelyni rauhassa. :) Galleria Becker on auki sunnuntaina 12-16.

Ensi lauantaina Galleria Becker on mukana Yläkaupungin yö -tapahtumassa ja ohjelmaa löytyy reilusti myös galleriasta. Sunnuntai on varmaankin parempi päivä, jos haluaa käydä katsomassa näyttelyni rauhassa. :) Galleria Becker on auki sunnuntaina 12-16.

Signing new artworks to my May exhibition in Jyväskylä (Finland). Working title of the exhibition has been "Back to the Garden of Tears" - once again I've visited this imaginary garden of trees growing all kinds of tears. Or, rather this time the spirits and deities of the garden.

About twenty years ago I started to imagine a garden where all kinds of tears can grow free. This Garden of Tears became my hideaway from the real world and the source of many of my artworks, including the Tear Artisans series. This spring I've returned to my imaginary work as a gardener...

Nine years ago I made this print "the Silent Artisan of the Tears" (2016, edition of 30, sold out) as part of my theme exhibition "The Garden of Tears", the last exhibition of which was in July 2018. I've closed the gate of the garden once, but now it seems I'm getting back there...

Ooo, look at this tiny blood red webcap (cortinarius). <3 I have just five grams dried mushroom for my dye samples, but I guess it will be enough since my samples are quite small. But this mushroom is so cute that I'm not sure if I want to use it.

I've browsed my old sketches and found several artworks not finished. I noticed that I tend to limit myself: stop myself repeating myself too much. But why? If a line wants to be drawn, it needs to be drawn until there's no need anymore.

I've browsed my old sketches and found several artworks not finished. I noticed that I tend to limit myself: stop myself repeating myself too much. But why? If a line wants to be drawn, it needs to be drawn until there's no need anymore.
