some of this versioning stuff still goes over my head. sounds like i dont specifically need jdk 11 for compose and im fine with 1.8? really confused with the screenshot of the compose release notes where it mentions that consumers had to update to 17 and then back down to 11

thanks. always good to get confirmation from the source ❤️
picked up nav3 stable last week for a project. we're looking to ship in Jan 🤞
was going to stick with nav2, but the recipes answer so many questions already that we're confident in moving forward with it

oooh nice. yeah i was just asking because i know Ian in the past has said that performing navigation in a VM was bad because of context leaks (i think?)

awesome. i actually saw this on youtube first and came here to ask a question. lol

how do java version enforcements work from the library level?

compose compiler says it requires java 11 (see photo). file > new project comes with 11 by default. if i got to 1.8, everything still works fine. why?

state persisted to datastore! very cool!

now that its stable. ill try to migrate our app to it soon. question though. the app im working on (unfortunately) was doing navigation calls in the AAC VM. which i know was frowned upon/leaky activity(?)
if i migrate to nav3. is it okay to keep navigation happening in VM?

Maybe we can add WiFi debugging troubleshooting into the "Connection Assistant" in android studio?
September 10, 2025 at 6:25 PM
Additionally I find it confusing that my work laptop (when connected via USB) that my work laptop shows up by hostname in the "paired devices" section of WiFi debugging on my phone.
September 10, 2025 at 6:25 PM
Okay so after using it a bit more I can definitely still hit cases where it can't connect. It seems to be on my company laptop though. Would be nice to debug why it can't connect. Assuming VPN issue or something. Even though if I disable VPN it still hangs. I wfh, so laptop and phone are on my wifi

Holy shit. It reconnected in like 2 seconds. Wooooooooo
August 31, 2025 at 7:22 AM
Awesome. I did see sdk tools today request to update to 36.0.1 so hopefully adb is included in that. Let me try it for the next few days and let you know where I land.

Btw loved the podcast episode you did. Thank you for caring about adb!

So basically... You get into more trouble if you were already connected and you try QR code again.
August 29, 2025 at 12:30 AM
I think I've figured out the reason this fails for me. I enable wifi debugging on my device. Wait 10s... Not yet connected so I say "oh. Gotta scan the QR code again". Then stuck in endless pairing screen. Give up

If I come back another day. Enable wifi debugging and wait 30+ secs. then it works.

I gotta find a way to do this on my Mac too. Even when I change color profiles on my display some apps will show hdr content and make my screen flicker 😭 looking at you @beeper.com
