Garret A. Morgan was a prolific Black inventor who created the traffic light. His traffic signal design included the crucial "warning" phase between "stop" and "go," significantly improving road safety. Thanks to his innovation, we arrive home safely every day! #BlackHistoryMonth

A huge and heartfelt shout-out to our incredible #SnowWarriors, who worked tirelessly around the clock to keep our city moving smoothly, even when Mother Nature threw the fiercest snowstorm our way. Thank you, Snow Warriors!

Now THAT'S a LOT of snow! Crews have been hauling excess snow out of downtown since Monday, one block at a time. This is the first time we've had to haul snow since 2008!

Thank you to the Franklin County Engineer’s Office for their partnership in moving this mountain of snow.

Freezing temps and water main leaks are no match for the power of teamwork! Public Service and Water and Power crews are working together to break up ice and repair leaks around the city that have turned streets into ice rinks.⛸️💧

With historic snowfalls like these, residential roads may still be snow-covered, even after a plow has gone through. The goal is to make roads passable, not perfect. You won't drive the speed limit, but you will get to your destination safely.

***PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT***

Daily residential trash pickup routes are being serviced as scheduled. If your container is set out and missed on collection day, contact the 311 Service Center so pickup can be attempted the next day.

"Passable" means you can travel down a road, but with caution. Have patience, and you'll get to your destination safely!

With temps staying low, how are we managing snow downtown? We're working with the Franklin County Engineer's Office to remove excess snow from the roadways and dump it in a parking lot in McCoy Park while we continue to plow our streets and neighborhoods. Check out our crews, up late-night hauling!

"Thank you for shoveling the streets when they were full of snow and ice. Thank you for doing that. I love you." - Everest, age 5 (May 14, 2025)

When we're out in the cold plowing, thinking back to letters like this warms our hearts. Thank you for this kind letter, Everest!🧤🧣
