As we mark 80 years since Hiroshima, the global nuclear order is under real stress. Escalation risks in Europe, South Asia, and the Korean Peninsula are intensifying. It’s time for bold, preventive action.

The situation is just indefensible & catastrophically bad. The suffering is really acute. Press coverage has changed. In past 2 wks, in particular, I feel like there has been a tipping point in terms of how the war is being covered. So I think you’ve seen natural reactions.

Public opinion about Israel’s conduct in Gaza appears to be changing in the U.S. and elsewhere as striking photos and videos of emaciated children and their starving parents emerge from the enclave, and aid agencies warn of famine.
The grim reality of Gaza's hunger crisis appears to be shifting U.S. public opinion
Americans appear to be shifting against Israel's military operations in Gaza, but observers question whether that will lead to a new U.S. policy.

Great @reuters.com exclusive in which “State Department disputes findings, cites video evidence of Hamas looting. Israel claims Hamas diverts aid, based on its intelligence reports. GHF accuses Hamas of theft, U.N. rejects GHF's militarized model.”

Exclusive: USAID analysis found no evidence of massive Hamas theft of Gaza aid
The internal U.S. government analysis challenges the main rationale that Israel and the U.S. give for backing a new armed private aid operation.

‘People in Gaza are neither dead nor alive, they are walking corpses.’ It should never have come to this. Experienced local and international aid workers are ready to help. But nothing will change so long as Israel is allowed to keep Gaza’s gates shut.

Israel has managed Gaza’s humanitarian access for decades.

It knows exactly what survival requires.

Yet the system it has created delivers too little food at too few sites to too few people.

The predictable result has been deadly chaos that makes a mockery of “humanitarian” distribution.

I believe now what I believed then: There’s no reason why a group of people can’t make an impact on the world.

30 years since its founding, @crisisgroup.org’s work to shape peace is more crucial than ever. Proud to continue supporting its mission.

Interesting assessment: ““We’ve been very successful in settling wars” with trade, Trump claimed, citing conflicts between India and Pakistan, and Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.“”

A new peace agreement offers hope of quelling hostilities between Kinshasa and Kigali in eastern DR Congo.

But this Q&A highlights the tough road ahead as diplomats seek to ensure the agreement holds.

🕊️conflict resolution opportunity following a peace agreement between Kinshasa & Kigali. Can it help quell hostilities in eastern DR Congo or will Kigali’s conditions for its withdrawal pose obstacles?

Ground situation in Gaza unsustainably awful. Israel's 'humanitarian' scheme is atrocious.

Reoccupation of Gaza & slow suffocation of West Bank leading to erasure of Palestinian life.

Time U.S. blow whistle, revert to previous Gaza ceasefire, get hostages out; get negotiated end to this nightmare.

For now, the Israeli government appears to be basking in the apparent success of its U.S.-aided campaign in Iran. Yet the catastrophic results of its war strategy in Gaza will not go away.
