(Pumpkin) Spicing things up a little this month of October by turning the characters into skeletons... kind of...
Comic with 4 panels in a 2x2 grid titled Spooktober. Two skeletons talk to each other:
- Cool! We are skeletons!
- *sigh* ...It's just as I suspected...
- That the author was going to draw us as something spooky for October of for Halloween?
- No! That the comic author is an idiot that doesn't know how to draw skeletons! We look like monkeys!
The footer of the comic has the text: comiCSS a comic coded in CSS by Alvaro "doesn't-know-how-to-draw-skeletons" Montoro

Inset Shadows Directly on img Elements (Part 1)

Inset `box-shadow` doesn't work directly on . There are work-arounds, but this SVG filter can do it directly.

Don't run! There is powerful stuff to learn here through interactive demos.

comiCSS #140: Framework Fans vs Framework Bros
comicss.art/comics/140/

May 13, 2024 – This comic wasn't in the resharing pipeline until later, but given recent news and reactions from some popular framework, it seemed like a good fit for this week.

#css #js #webdev #framework #cartoon #joke
Comic with 4 panels titled frameworks fans, showing a woman looking at a phone and saying "Oh! The developer of that framework you like is trending!" Then a man with a "that framework flag" smiling happily. A notification from the phone indicates the news is related to an angry hot take, the woman looks shocked and says "Oh... Oh no...." The man is shocked too and smiling nervously lets the flag drop. Comic with 4 panels titled "frameworks bros", showing a woman looking at a phone and saying "Oh! The developer of that framework you like is trending!" Then a man with a "that framework flag" smiling happily. A notification from the phone indicates the news is related to an angry hot take, the woman looks shocked and says "Oh... Oh no...." The man keeps smiling and now has "that framework" flags everywhere

comiCSS reactions by subreddit:

- r/comics: crickets. It used to be more active, and get dozens of reactions, sometimes hundreds. Lately it's "dead."

- r/css: almost automatic -1. Users of r/css are all business and seem to hate the comic. Sometimes it ramps up to the positives, but single digits.

New comic: Azimuth!
comicss.art/comics/212/

#css #comic #webdev #joke
comic with 4 panels showing a man and a woman talking. He asks 'Hey, Jill! Do you remember the name of the CSS property used to set the direction of sound sources in audio playback?' She replies 'Azimuth', and he quickly answers 'Bless you!' There's an awkward silence, and to her despair, he says 'But, really, do you remember the name of the CSS property used to set the direction of sound sources in audio playback?'

comiCSS #97: Duck Test
comicss.art/comics/97/du...

July 24, 2023 – I have used this cartoon (or a variation of it) in a few conference talks about CSS Art and comiCSS... Yes! I was also surprised that people were curious about a comic drawn with CSS. But there are many!

#css #cartoon #duck #webdev
If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck. If it has filters like a drawing language, gradients like a drawing language, and blend modes like a drawing language... It is clearly a styling language! Nothing to do with drawings and graphics. Absolutely nothing! OK?
