They actually take frequent small naps through the day and night, lasting like 30 seconds to a few minutes. They also remain alert during, listening for predators. I wouldn't be surprised if these were traits used in HH canon, since they match Alastor's personality, imo.

I feel the same. I've honestly wondered about whether or not he sleeps because there's no bed in his room that we can see.

I actually looked up deer sleeping patterns the other day because I considered that maybe this was a factor included, and it turns out that they don't actually fully sleep.
