I am horrified by the attack outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

My thoughts are with the Jewish community, the loved ones of all those affected, and the brave first responders.

I was saddened to hear of the death of Lord Campbell of Pittenweem - Menzies or Ming - former MP for North East Fife. I won’t forget my time working in the House of Commons alongside him - he was kind, principled and held with respect by all parties. My thoughts go to his family.
