So I’ve been learning how to knit for the last couple months. There is a halibut sweater, a king salmon sweater, a sardine sweater, but no carp sweater?!? With their beautiful scale patterns?? How can this be?!?

@tallgirl6234.bsky.social I saw this fb post from author Sharon Astyk and thought of you. Not sure if you’ve followed her work before but I have for years and I don’t think she would say it lightly

It feels so weird to just scroll tiktok now that the Americans are gone. I went on some lives as their access was cut off, and it was so very weird. @catieosaurus.bsky.social was the last US live among the ppl I follow. Their last words were “I guess this is it”

“At the end of the day, this story is not about droplets and airborne particles as much as it is about dollars and cents. What sounds like an in-the-weeds scientific debate, is no more than a common tale of industry greed.”

#LongCovid #COVID
In 2021, COVID was shown to be fully airborne. Yet for years, hospitals have failed to upgrade infection control measures. Bodies like the WHO and CDC are leaving HCW and patients in danger by failing to match recommendations to the science.

My latest:

CDC infection control body rejects the science on airborne transmission
HICPAC continues to stonewall efforts to evolve infection control guidance to match updated information about COVID and other common viruses.

Is this 🇨🇦 data correct???

Disability among 15-24 yo ⬆️ 54% ?

Disability among 25-54 yo ⬆️ 33% ?

And that data is 2 years old?

So things may be worse in 2024?

Two years after The Great Unmasking, aka "let 'er rip"?

Huh 🤔

I’ve been a doctor for more than 20 years & this is the first time that I’ve seen a paediatric stroke awareness campaign (from the American Heart Association). Gosh, what could possibly have changed in the past 5 years* which is increasing the risk of paediatric stroke?

*Spoiler alert: it’s COVID

This was a fascinating read. I have ranted about horrendously bright headlights but it didn’t occur to me that carmakers might be finding loopholes in meeting regulatory requirements
In one of the strangest chapters of my life, I spent several months in the trenches of Big Headlight, looking to understand just how and why headlights became brighter than the sun. Answers, graphs, penis sketches—it's all here, on the brand new Ringer site:

Asleep at the Wheel in the Headlight Brightness Wars
The crusade against bright headlights has picked up speed in recent years, in large part due to a couple of Reddit nerds. Could they know what’s best for the auto industry better than the auto industr...

Sad to leave my 15-year history on Twitter of interests in photography, UX, inclusion, and in recent years covid science, but here I am, hoping to find the same level of community and information
