Today was an amazing time of joy, community, and place making. Thank you to all the organizations who volunteered their time & materials, and thank you to the amazing community members who shared in the joy with us.

Let's do this again next year, Bellevue!

Sound Transit CEO Dow Constantine just told the board's rider experience committee that East Link has officially entered the system integration phase.

That means you'll see single trains with up to four cars operating across the I-90 bridge "intermittently."

And the work doesn't stop! There's a gauntlet of candidate forums this year, but this one will be big.

11 orgs are working hard to put this on so that our communities can be educated about candidates for Bellevue office and where they stand on transportation.

Big thanks to Urban Accessories, a local, family-owned foundry that’s been operating in Tacoma for over 50 years!

They're providing chairs, benches, and bike racks that you'll see at tomorrow's event, and they're sponsoring food for volunteers.

Thanks for making our event possible!

Thank you to the primary sponsors of Park(ing) Day, the City of Bellevue's Community Programming Fund! City Council unanimously approved this fund in their budget to support programming & activation events along the Grand Connection.

Bellevue's first Park(ing) Day is coming up! help us demonstrate the desire and possibility around reallocating some of our space for PEOPLE!

Color & vibrancy don't just make a street pretty to look at. They make our streets *memorable* - unique constructions with their own character & life. Places with *soul*.

Park(ing) Day allows community to test creative ideas that can help spawn memories. Be a part of Bellevue's on September 19th!
A group of four sits within a parking space cordoned off with colorful innertubes. Members sit on inflatable bean bags and lawn chairs next to green bushes. A group of people stand within a curbside parking space that has been cordoned off with a rope, onto which dozens and dozens of colorful ties have been attached. One man in a black shirt kneels next to an artistic display of dozens of hexagonal cubbies, painted either yellow, green, or blue. Another man in a plaid shirt stands further away and ponders the installation. Two people sit within a curbside parking space that has been adorned with artificial turf, a wooden recliner, and dozens of red and white pipes that have been stood up vertically along the perimeter of the space. A man walks by in the background while looking at the installation.

The only limit to Park(ing) Day is the community's creativity (& city code).

A tour of regional pollinators? A racing course for matchbox cars? A sea of bike racks? Pop-up yoga?

All these ideas and more are possible with the right materials & ingenuity. Check out what Bellevue can do next Friday!
A rainbow assortment of hundreds of hotwheels cars rests alongside a curb atop some artificial grass. Next to them is a hilly racing course filled with dirt. At the end of the course are two black and white checkered flags. Two people are in the background selecting their cars. A man and woman reach towards a young child, the man with a blue pinwheel. All are on a sidewalk, and behind them are dozens of potted plants in a curbside parking space. Approximately 10 bikes are parked along two homemade bike racks. Behind those racks is a white sign with some colored squares and the text "BIKE". A man and a woman stand atop black yoga mats with arms outstretched and staring forward in a yoga pose. The mats are atop green felt, and a rope with colored flags separates the space from the street.
