I swear. It’s been driving me nuts

Read Come and Punishment over the summer and found it to be super accessible also. Also just finished his Notes from Underground - so good, and still felt so germane to the times!

Just finished it! Such a good read!

These poets, I tell you. Always need an inkwell handy for their quills.

A damming development is a fun thing to imagine

This is in such bad faith that I wouldn’t even know where to start. Neither of the two posts you’ve shared indicate support for, or calling for, killing gay people. I suggest you go read them fully.

Oh for sure. I was thinking about the politics represented the account, it’s not the most humanistic positions on things.

Good question ha. I’ve always thought of it as “paying into” the system, in order to become a beneficial part of that system. It’s like paying one’s taxes & voting (while not mandatory), there’s an underlying responsibility to do those things so you can benefit from the society that comes out of it.

Care to explain what’s wrong with saying a nation needs borders? Anyone who’s been through the legal immigration process in this country, myself included, knows it’s not a trivial pursuit but it’s the price of admission.

Yes because from the rest of your profile it’s clear just how much you care about the LGBTQ community. FFS.

Get serious, FT

Ah I see what you mean - it increased repeat crossings by the same individuals. Which in my mind still translates to one “individual” migrant recidivising, if that’s a word. And some people wouldn’t have retired, so the net effect of Title 42 would still have been -ve on immigration
September 26, 2025 at 9:58 PM
Raising the stats on deportations? Or did you mean something else... It seems like Title 42 (while it lasted) as a public health emergency measure was quite effective in stemming the rate of border crossings.

That’s a good list, thanks. Was the Democrats’ failure then that they didn’t have enough to show for said lurch? It might have been unavoidable to take some of those steps, after all, given the number of people crossing the border kept going up? Govt still needs to be effective in the end

> Democrats lurched right on immigration and lost.

How so? Genuinely curious
September 26, 2025 at 6:03 PM
I have come to see the US Democrats’ failure to deal with illegal immigration as the major reason for Republican victory in 2024. Why shouldn’t Britain be wary?

…and he still hasn’t read her, while being moved enough to write a piece in THE PARIS REVIEW about her?! Or is this supposed to be a piece about not reading her?
