Our PostDoc Richard contributed to a review on coronaviruses:

From zoonotic spillover to endemicity: the broad determinants of human coronavirus tropism

Together with @pfaenderlab.bsky.social he dives into the mechanisms that determine host specificity of CoVs.

We helped identifying the kinase JNK as a host factor for successfull coronavirus infection. JNK regulates phosporylation of the the common cold human coronavirus 229E nuleocapsid protein.

This 🕷️ tick-borne RNA virus can infect humans, but little is known about transmission and natural hosts. Saskia and team could show that 12/13 serum pools from the three geographical regions and 87.1 % of tested horses in Germany were positive for ALSV antibodies, indicating previous infections!
