Yeah, I thought it was okay when he went for that fan who thought it was literally written about their ship, but once it’s published it’s not up to the author what resonances people find in it or the feelings they have about it, even if they don’t personally think it fits.

He’s still working! That airport thriller he did for Netflix wasn’t good but it did numbers afaik and I think he has something else coming out this summer for Apple. He has kind of disappeared from the prestige/awards conversation material tho which is a shame.
