They took our digital third spaces from us. They took it and now they're making dank memes in that same space. They are wearing the skin of human interaction and trying to convince us they are us, for profit. not for enjoyment or laughs, not even for fear and hatred of the "others". FOR PROFIT.

Early Internet felt different because we hadn't figured out how to monetize it successfully, so it was plain human interaction. We got to share in the full width of humanity, good and bad. Now 90% of content I consume is driven by the profit motive, if you're not monetizing, you lose at capitalism.

Will Meta change its culture as TikTok users migrate to that platform, or will it double down and chase users away? Does Meta actually need users to stay afloat? Will there be bailouts for social media companies in like 3 years?

Competitors are going to fill the void as users migrate away from big social media. BSM will leverage legal/social/political power to kill or subsume them while capitalism will eat them from within. Decentralization may be the way to go, but is it antithetical to the design of the Internet?
