de dagen zijn al ruim een week aan het lengen (sinds 21 december), maar dat komt vooral doordat de zon al vanaf 11 december elke dag wat later ondergaat. pas vanaf vandaag (30 december) komt de zon ook elke dag iets vroeger op. #tijdvereffening

![During Christmas 1768, a little girl wandered the streets of Amsterdam all alone. Her name was Clara van Bengalen and she was eight years old.
Clara had been enslaved and brought to the city by a ship captain over a year earlier. When this captain left for Asia with his wife, he left the enslaved girl behind on the street.
On 28 December, the child was taken to the city's orphanage for the poor, where the little girl told her story. This was recorded as follows in the orphanage's admission book:
Clara van Bengalen, aged 8 1/2
Brought here from Bengal as 'a slave girl ' with Capt Johannes Sigismundis Hoeve about a year and a half ago. [Hoeve] has now again departed with his wife on the ship De Vrouw Cornelia Hillegonda to India and left this little slave girl here. She wanders around and there is no one who wants to take her in.
Clara would live the rest of her short life in the orphanage.
