As far as I could tell from skimming this he never became an American citizen, unless I missed it which is totally possible. Lawful permanent resident was what I saw.

Why? It makes us wealthier, gives better consumer protections, the ability for our citizens to live and work in so many great nations. Canada would give the EU another G7 economy in its union while Canada receives these benefits as well as military protection from expansionist America.
