On the bright side, the final boss is tied with Dreads for my favourite in the series and I hope if Mercury steam works on the next 2d Metroid they're able to keep up the quality of boss fights because they've done a great job so far

For fucks sake, they made me hyped to see Marth, after all the times I've punched that guy into the stratosphere, they actually managed to make me hyped to see him in a fight

The main character has a tokusatsu-like transformation, the emblems get their own roll call announcements, the OP is the most amazingly cheesy thing I've ever heard, and they play the OP when the main character unlocks their powers in the first chapter, it's so goofy and it embraces that fact

and looking at my steam library, I just realised I've got a Lodoss war Metroidvania that I probably picked up on sale without really paying attention and played for less time than the episode I watched, guess I've got something to look forward to when I'm caught up lol

it's also funny because iirc Lodoss War is one of the earliest D&D Campaigns do get made into a animated series, and the current most well known ones are the series based on Critical Roles campaigns, and even without having seen all of each, I can tell you those two have very different vibes

It's also confirmed a theory of mine that I'm more likely to enjoy medieval fantasy if there's at least one character who has shoulder armour that's just slightly too big to be practical, but not so big that it's absurd, I know it's a weird thing to get me invested, but I just think they're neat

like oh no some minor NPC died, time to save scum the fuck out of it so they survive, also I realised there's an area in act 3 that recharges all your spells without needing to long rest, so I can go there, summon an army, buff everyone up and still have spell slots left over to fireball a bitch

same here, I pretty much only played as Wylder because if a game gives me a wacky wahoo grapple hook, it's extremely hard for me not to use it
