In Vietnam, trying to grasp what life feels like fifty years after the war.
My answer so far: it was worth it.

I believe people often convince themselves when they lie, ignore facts, or distort our shared sense of reality.
In doing so, they reveal less about the world and more about themselves—enough for me to see whether they are a potential ally or a foe.
And that’s all I need to know.

We don't live to tell stories; being alive means telling the right ones. When the stories we tell ourselves and others resonate and inspire, we are far more likely to live long enough to tell them.
