A lover or history, art, the quest for meaning, I seek inspiration to keep the springs of my own creativity flowing. At the same time, should I find anything worth sharing, I will offer it here.
Who are these so-called moderates? Werewolves in the clothing of shepherds I believe.

I can imagine this, but know too that our ears aren't really attuned to the discordant notes we hear lately. So much seems set ajangle. Where does unity and harmony dwell these days I wonder?

I like her name so much. Had I known, I might have chosen hers for my confirmation name. Sigh.

I've been reading Savage's Dictionary of Printing and just learned about what are termed Batters, refering to when the face of a letter gets injured. I wonder if this term is still in use at all? Savage's Dictionary is full of interesting info, a bit more current & accessible than Moxson's work.

I suppose I will need to visit Ghent then. No small loss really since I was planning to go over there at that time anyway.

I'm so disappointed that I will miss this exhibit! I will be in DC the following weekend, but I don't suppose you would keep it up for an extra week?

My old sweetie gave me a book of these back in the early 80's. You looked at them with a silvered piece of plastic rolled into a cylinder. It was a novelty, but not so thrilling for someone living in the 20th century as it must have been originally. I don't believe I have that book anymore.

I'm with you there! Every action this administration takes engenders at least a dozen unproveable stories.

* Not meaning faith in a particular set of prescribed notions, but more like faith that it's worthwhile to seek meaning in the experiences of one's life.

From reading some of his work-- it takes time, faith and work to stick with him -- I gather that his life is a testimony to taking the sort of leap of faith which Kierkegaard described. He laid himself down in the stream of life, seeking words to describe being less separated from experience.

Well you have entirely lost me here. Not that, I suppose, you had me before.

Talk about blaming the victim...!

A new Monopoly game card in "Community Chest"? "Church/State divide pays off in your favor on tariffs. Proceed to Go and collect $200."

Sometimes I think that the real trouble with Trump is that he has no natural sense of humor. But really, I think that it's more that he has no sense of humanity, and that makes his sense of humor seem tone deaf to anything worthwhile.

The pictures in this article show her fascination with downward curves.

I would add, if you are surprised (or want to express surprise), try to resist using exclamation marks.

I appreciate his poetry so much, but ouch!, he comes across as a selfish & rather cold-hearted person in every account I've read.

It seems pretty simple to me. The way we express our understanding, and our insight and understanding itself can change (and has provided positions and topics for papers for academics for ages) but God and all that is holy is timeless and unchanging.

Perhaps "hassle" would be a more apt term than bustle. I wonder if this sort of thing will ever make a come-back. Hard to imagine.
December 13, 2025 at 4:17 PM
Ha ha! That is so funny that I didn't think of the bird. Thanks for clarifying!
December 13, 2025 at 3:55 PM
Sorry not to know, but is there significance to a red kite? Perhaps just holiday festivities? -- Over here in northern US it's way too chilly for kites.
December 13, 2025 at 3:26 PM
Only at home! Foolishly, I was imagining it was a ball gown. Who owned this stunning creation?
December 13, 2025 at 3:24 PM
My goodness, it is exquisite, but I suppose you wouldn't sit on a bustle like that? No eating, not sitting, just look lovely.

I think I was a song sparrow back when I was little.
December 13, 2025 at 2:49 PM
Rather the opposite of a phil-anthropist eh?
