this isn't necessarily something i've sat on for a long time, so i don't know how well thought out it is but: it's interesting to me that roguelikes closest cousins are live service games [in their ability to be played/updated forever] and gambling machines [in their random nature], respectively

i mean:

- the ads for ai think you're an idiot
- the power needed to run its data centers are massive disruptions on the lives of the people who live near them in their pollutant effects
- its usecases are attempts to avoid the responsibility of social engagement
