Previous research has shown that beverage container deposit return system (#DRS, aka #bottlebill) laws have reduced the number of beverage containers in the coastal environment by 40%.

A 2020 analysis by Keep America Beautiful® found that states with #DRS programs have half as much soft drink and beer litter per capita compared to states without such programs.
