This feels so inconsequential given current events, but I finally finished my last dissertation chapter, a 38K words monster in which I read History and Class Consciousness against the history of the early Comintern. I've been at it for two years and I honestly didn't think I would ever get it done

This is exactly right. The terrifying power of MAGA as a political slogan is that it offers meaning without burden to one group while imposing burden without meaning on everyone else-- and straight up anhilitation to specific groups it constructs as alien
