I have recently discovered that the bbc / kuensberg won’t discuss criminals associated with refuk unless a member of refuk is in the studio, which is odd.

I’m struggling with this take. A u- turn implies they reversed a decision and it remains where it started. They’ve improved a shite situation for new employees from 2 yrs to 6 months. This is even better than the 1 year that it used to be. Surely this is a good thing overall?

Hardly a u-turn. More of a gentle bend. Celebrate the improvement!
All employees protected from day 1 if dismissal is on grounds of race, religion, disability, etc. This has been the case for some years.

What I’m saying is 6 months is way better than 24 for new employees. Day 1 may be the ‘perfect’ target for some opinions but most contracts have a probation period, so day 1 ruling would probably do more harm than good. Unfair dismissal applies from day 1 now if protected characteristic involved.

Why use the word ‘ditched’. They’re moving the crazy 24 month rule to 6 months instead of proposed day 1. I’ve also seen ‘u-turn’ used. 6 months is great news and should be reported at least in neutral language, if not positively.
