Too many such cases in too many countries.
Wanting to be PM purely for the fact of being PM out of belief that all the UK needs is better managers of the current system is how the Labour Party ended up with Keir Starmer
The problem with Streeting (aside from all the other problems with Streeting) is that he appears to want to be PM purely for the fact of being PM as a win & of in itself. It’s hard to detect any kind of sincere ideology, or even ideas really, other than whatever he thinks will get him there.

National vetoes are the EU version of the Senate filibuster. A committed qualified majority could use any broadly popular issue to break the rule forever.

Tooze projecting the loss of his house to a climate event and then finding solace in the arms of his new chinese partner after a long spell of depression onto his analysis of Weltpolitik, shows again to never forget that one's heros are always still menschlich, like all of us.

Generative AI seems to do to the wider population and economy what social media did to journalists and the news business. No replacement, just psychosis and financial destruction.

Tooze's "fairly reliable points" 2 & 3 in his chartbook 413 look like the hinge points of our near future. In my opinion the US economy will not shrug off the AI miss-investments and Trump fallout, and Xi's next stimulus boost will be on Taiwan. Who knows, but deffo not reliable.
