america is not & has never been a land of equality and rights for all. it has been a land of privileges for some. no reasonable empathic person would disagree. but what i do notice is that its more often than not those whom have always enjoyed the most privilege who will die on the hill of nihilism

gender affirming healthcare. legal protections around a same sex partner. reproductive healthcare for women. access to contraceptives, to plan or not plan a family, to marry someone of a different race than your own. the protections of these and more should’ve been enough to “earn” your vote

as soon as someone gets on here talking about any variation of “the democrats needed to earn my vote” i’m not gonna take you seriously. bc i’m glad you thought you could treat this all like it was a courting session. but for so many of us, it was a question of having basic civil liberties

Yep, for sure. Mexican Americans also tended to go one of two ways — felt extreme pride in their heritage (Chicanos) or completely abandoned it altogether and aggressively tried to assimilate with white supremacy. The latter overcompensate by being incredibly outwardly racist in my experience.
