For the sake of posterity, the reading lists I made for military theory and war related literature.

So cool that whenever someone asks the president, “did you eat the Lindbergh baby” he’s like, “no but I’d be allowed to, I have the right to, I might do it later”

The thing about crashing a tank through a museum of antiquities is that you don't have to be a particularly skilled driver to do a lot of damage.

It's difficult at times to hold both "this admin is doing lasting and serious damage to our institutions and the globe" and "this admin is full of the most bafflingly incompetent idiots you've ever seen who fall over themselves like a Vaudeville act constantly."

The duality of man is incredible.

If you think about it, troops being vaccinated is a similar form of politicization of the military as sending the 82nd to Portland if you suffer from late-stage lead poisoning.

See also: getting a talking to from my Battalion CSM about wearing the “wrong” combat patch and “not being a team player and showing unit pride to inspire my soldiers” as a salty twice deployed SPC.

I knew the Army put too much value on pieces of flare when I got bitched at by a random SGM for having my Airborne wings sewn on over my Air Assault wings while I was in the 101st.

The fact the Army decided to make the MIB makes my eyes roll into the back of my head.

This is taking off. Read my newsletter! It's relaunched with 3 new entries this week. Dispatches from the panic beat, looking at conflict, art, and how we process it.

Underrated part of this story is that official USG business is done by Truth Social DM. It almost makes you miss the good old days of the PC small group Signal Chat.

This would be very welcome, especially if it includes full ceasefire and flood of badly needed Gaza aid. But so much remains unclear, even about first phase, including point of Israeli withdrawal. Key will be measures agreed to assure that first phase doesn't become last phase.

That's more dignified at least

I believe in the Schmittian friend-enemy distinction, but in this case, the enemy is editors.

Somewhat challenging for defenders of the Trump administration’s lawless killings in the Caribbean (like Senator Cotton) to make the case for them when the administration won’t even tell us who they are targeting.

“We don’t know who we’re blowing up, but we can’t stop now!”
