In 1970 Californians used as much electricity as the rest of the country and had about the same electricity rates.

Watching NFL games since they added the retired referee to the broadcast a few years ago, I’m surprised how rarely I learn anything from rules guy. Broadcasters: fire the ref and add a data guy. When Buffalo went for two last week I wanted to know if the odds favored that decision or not.

Wishing Mamdani the best, but my God every economist says freezing rent will, in the medium term as building new rental housing is disincentivized, raise rents later. NYC has the most existing rent control and has the highest rents. Support for this policy is the left’s version of vaccine denialism

The answer to right wing populism is never left wing populism. Otherizing rich people doesn’t work as well as otherizing foreigners because many see the rich as aspirational and left wing populism as “anti-prosperity for me.” Clinton didn’t do it. Obama didn’t do it.

For years the Epstein story was an Alex Jones and QAnon obsession. Crickets from Democrats. Does anyone really believe us when we say this is about justice for the victims? Just because you evoke the victims on cable news doesn’t mean that’s what this is about. Stupidest. Issue. Ever.

Listening to James Talarico on Chris Hayes right now and I'm just not sure why the conventional wisdom is that he's the future. Democrats who communicate like him keep loosing national elections. He interviews exactly the opposite of Gavin Newsom. One sounds coached and one sounds well-read.

Democrats pls don’t put Mark Kelly on the 2028 ticket. He’s not even the most talented senator from Arizona. Sending fundraising texts every 5 minutes while putting MSNOW viewers to sleep is not winning strategy. Strong bio cannot edge out communication style. Ask John Kerry (who had a better bio)

Are you sure you want the federal government to release embarrassing emails they’ve collected even if there’s no evidence that you committed a crime? Is that really “accountability?” Where is the libertarian left on the Epstein files release?

The two shortcomings of using rubrics: (1) it assumes that quantitative measures are true and qualitative measures are less true, and (2) it assumes that if you give a qualitative judgement a number it is no longer subjective. . . . "rubric" is fun to say as a word, though.

Have we really thought this through? Hundreds (thousands?) will be doxxed in the files as witnesses, alibis, informants, colleagues and yes, friends, of a horrible man. Guilt by association. Would you want your government to share your name as linked to the worst person you ever hung out with?

I feel like everyone has lost their minds….there is no guilt by association. Being friends with a monster does not make you a criminal, and it certainly doesn’t warrant the government releasing your name to the public.

Megyn Kelly was wrong because some of the trafficking victims were as young as 14…but the age of the trafficking victims is relevant, right? Like, not from a legal perspective but from a moral perspective?

Two different ones! Came here to Richmond, VA for a race and made reservations for dinner Fri and Sat at well reviewed, but not fancy, local restaurants. One closed its doors last week before we arrived and the other shuttered right after we ate. Coincidence or economic canary?

Let’s assume that, over three decades, there are 200 people who rode on Epstein’s plane…people under no suspicion that they sexually assaulted a minor…release their names in the name of holding powerful men to account?
